In the months of January and February, 16,634 visitors from around the worldcame to Colombia in connection with business meetings and occupational events. This figure demonstrated a 123.1% surge whencompared to the same periodlast year.

ProColombia President Flavia Santorosaid that at the moment, Colombia gets to host seven times more events compared to what it did in 2009. He opined that in 2021, Columbia’s promotion agency exceeded the objective for organizing major occasions and meetings, hosting 91 events altogether – which included the IDB Assembly, ICCA Congressand the World Law Congress among others. Santoro said that this year they are considering organizing even greater number of events.

Colombia boasts of 27 convention centers and a set-up of 455 hotels with abilities for organizingbig events. As per the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) in Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena can easily find their places among top 10 cities around the world with regard to the number of events and meetings held in the year 2019.

The promotion policyof Colombia’s as a regional frontrunner for the meetings sector has fetched the country in excess of 20 awards in the previous two years. This is indeed a major achievement. Columbia’s most recent rewardscomprise the South America World Travel Awards in the segments of Cruise Destination, Youth Travel Destination andLGBT Destination.
