Official Airline Guide, a well-known global travel data operator, has recently declared that the IGI airport in Delhi has come up as the second busiest airport in the world on March 2022, in regard to frequency of domestic and international flights and total seat capacity.
In 2022, the civil aviation industry of India has started showing signs of revival gradually, after remaining passive for two years due to the restrictions caused by pandemic.
The airport in CY 2021, managed around 31.65 million domestic passengers, and 5.49 million international traffic. Also, among all Indian airports, IGI emerged as the top airport in terms of handling international along with domestic passenger traffic in CY 2020 and CY 2021.
Delhi International Airport, with a seating capacity of 3,611,181 seats, managed to beat Dubai International Airport, with a seating capacity of 3,554,527 seats, reportedly. While Atlanta managed to keep a hold of its position as the largest, Dubai was defeated of second place in March by Delhi International Airport, with a seating capacity of 3,611,181 seats, according to the OAG’s report.
