To increase the number of UAE nationals in hospitality and tourism sector, a new drive or a push has been introduced. Medyaf, an industry nationalisation initiative at Dubai College of Tourism (DCT), part of the Department of Economy and Tourism of Dubai declared on Friday that it has launched the ‘Explore the Tourism Industry in Dubai’ initiative.
According to a press release, this effort is designed to authorize Emirati talent keen on being a part of the tourism workforce with the fundamental knowledge and skills via immersive programme of interactive workshops, field trips, vocational experiences, and hands-on training.
Medyaf was set up in 2016 to draw, prepare, and encourage the citizens of UAE to take up tourist-facing roles all over tourism ecosystem.
Two workshops were organized by Medyaf in March as part of the initiative; the first was conducted in Al Seef Heritage Hotel and almost 10 participants took part in it; the second was arranged in Hilton Dubai Jumeirah, and welcomed around 11 participants.
Both workshops had theoretical and practical activities in an engaging, interactive environment, and gave opportunity for the participants to know more about hotel operations, hospitality, and fundamentals of culinary and hands-on training.
