Police to submit charge sheet on POCSO case soon

The police team investigating the case registered under the POCSO Act against Roy Vayalat, owner of No. 18 Hotel in Fort Kochi, and his associates Syju Thankachan and Anjali Reema Dev, on the charge of sexual assault of a minor girl and her mother at the hotel, is likely to submit the charge sheet in the case shortly, it is learnt.

The probe is in the final stage. Human trafficking charges had been slapped against Anjali and Syju, after the Kochi City police registered the case under the POSCO Act, Indian Penal Code and the Juvenile Justice Act. The allegation was that the complainant woman, her minor daughter, and two other women were brought to Kochi on the pretext of a business meeting by Anjali, following which Roy sexually assaulted the complainant and her minor daughter.

Actor assault case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the actor assault case has issued notice to actor Dileep’s brother Anoop and brother-in-law Suraj to present themselves for interrogation at the Aluva Police Club on Tuesday morning. They had not turned up for interrogation last Wednesday. The interrogation is said to be in connection with the alleged conspiracy to endanger five police officials who probed the assault case.

Bike catches fire

Fire engulfed much of a motorbike, soon after it was parked on the roadside at Menaka, on Sunday noon.

Sources at the Fire and Rescue Station, Club Road, said the bike owned by a youth from Thripunithura caught fire possibly due to short circuit. Over 50% of the bike was gutted. Two fire tenders from the station doused the fire.
