In the Middle East, Tourism Malaysia is arranging a series of roadshows to attract foreign visitors to Malaysia together with the border reopening episode of the country on April 1st, 2022. In Saudi Arabian cities like Damman, Riyadh, and Jeddah, the roadshow started from 21st May and will continue till 29th May 2022. Dato’ Seri Ramlan Ibrahim, the Chairman of Tourism Malaysia, headed the show. The delegation comprises travel agents, product owners, hoteliers, state tourism bodies, and players of medical tourism. The main job is to draw greater number of foreign visitors, newcomers and regulars to improve the economy and develop a strong tourism rebound.

The market of Saudi Arabia contributes the highest per capita expenditure in regard to tourist spending, reaching RM11, 660 (USD 2,673) and the average length of stay (10.8 nights) prior to the pandemic.

This roadshow acts like a networking channel with the partners in travel trade. It also acts as an opportunity to expand new sales partnerships in addition to providing product updates on Malaysia, including Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, the second tallest skyscraper of the world – Merdeka 118, and the recently reopened Sunway Resort in Kuala Lumpur. Dato’ Seri Ramlan said that they are quite excited to welcome more tourists from Saudi Arabia to Malaysia. The relationship of Malaysia with Saudi Arabia has been friendly for long time. Therefore, for the West Asian market, this roadshow is targeted to endorse Malaysia as a top-of-mind destination for the tourists.
