The 2022 Tourism Summit was a sign of return to normal conditions as for the first time, those interested people in the industry assembled last week. Annette Gavin Bates, executive director of the Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), was excited after seeing the amount of crowd at the event arranged on May 18th.

Gavin Bates said that it was quite amazing to spot such a huge crowd of people coming together to network and exchange ideas. We are finding out the new normal. Gavin added that this was a time to work in tandem to turn Jefferson County the best place to visit.

Attendees met for a sundry causes some to decide on the way to amplify tourism and support financial growth and few wanted to study about what’s there in the local area already and some came simply to meet their curiosity.

I didn’t know the level of the local CVB and its performance, said local realtor Patricia Sherwood. It was good to get the picture in general and the way they are working with the local businesses as well as organizations.

The summit provided a chain of presentations all through the day aiming on different tourism issues. Among those issues, there were several related to marketing and the way local CVB as well as state agencies work together in drawing people to West Virginia.
